Judith L. Midkiff has been employed with Virginia Tech through Virginia Cooperative Extension since September, 1987 serving in various capacities. Since 2007, she has served in the position of Project Associate, Operations and Evaluation for the Family Nutrition Program in which her major responsibilities are to manage the infrastructure of the program, collaborate with other partners to enhance the program, and manage the evaluation component of program activities.
She began her Extension career in Smyth County serving as Extension Agent until August, 1994. Judy then worked in the Southwest District Office as Area EFNEP Coordinator until December, 1995. Judy moved to Richmond and became the Virginia Smart Food Choices Network Coordinator. In July, 1997, she became Area Coordinator, EFNEP and SCNEP (now known as the Family Nutrition Program) in the Northeast District. Judy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition and Foods from Virginia Tech in 1987. She also received a Master of Science degree from Virginia Tech in Resource Management in 1994. She has completed 18 hours of coursework toward her Ph. D. in Education at Virginia Tech.
Judy has received various honors and awards in her professional career including the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences New Achiever Award and Epsilon Sigma Phi Mid Career Award. She has also been active in several professional associations. She has served as President of the Virginia Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, the Virginia Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, and the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi. She has chaired several committees for the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and completed a term as Chair of the Nutrition Division of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
