Dan Durheim
State Extension Leadership Council - Planning District 16

Dan Durheim serves as the Executive Director of the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture. As a member of the AFBF management TEAM he continually seeks the opportunity to collaborate and build relationships throughout the agricultural industry. His passion is educating about agriculture and finding the way to share the story of today’s food, fiber and fuel system with all. He joined the AFBF staff in January 1999. Prior to joining the AFBF staff, Durheim was East Central area program director for the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation. His responsibilities included developing training material and agricultural education programs, working with Farm Bureau volunteers, and organizing agricultural awareness and Farm Bureau visibility with local media. This field position was highlighted by the opportunity to realize the importance of grassroots activity in Farm Bureau.
Durheim earned his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture education and development, with an emphasis on animal science, from the University of Minnesota. While attending the University, Durheim was active in numerous campus activities, livestock judging teams, Farm House Fraternity and managing the Sheep Research and Teaching facility.
Durheim is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the National Agricultural Alumni and Development Association. He is also very active in his local community volunteering at church, 4-H, homeless shelter and a member of the county Extension Leadership Committee. A Minnesota native, Durheim currently lives in Fredericksburg, Va., with his wife, Cheryl, and their three children, Abigail, Caleb and Savannah.
