Extension Advisory Council

The purpose of the State Advisory Council is to serve Virginia Cooperative Extension through advising Extension administrators regarding commonwealth and industry needs and appropriate strategies, thus helping to ensure that VCEs program is relevant and addressing the highest priority needs statewide. This council serves as a strong advocate for VCE with current and potential funding partners, key decision makers and program clientele. While not a governance board, the role of EAC is to advise, assist and support Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Members of the EAC serve at the discretion of the director of VCE. This board is a non-voting, advisory board and does not engage in decision making related to program personnel, budget, or internal policy development within Virginia Cooperative Extension.

In alignment with Virginia Tech’s Principles of Community and the university motto of Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), the EAC is committed to fostering a board where all identities, experiences, and backgrounds feel empowered to create a strong and welcoming community representative of the Commonwealth of Virginia and all those VCE serves. EAC strives to facilitate accessible, flexible, enjoyable, and meaningful activities that honor and uplift the dignity of our members and the faculty, staff, and administrators who work with the board.

The EAC is a non-profit organization affiliated with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and Virginia State University.
