Summer Internship Program: King George County
Primary Program Area Focus: FCS, ANR and 4-H
1. Describe your plans for this internship. (i.e. What specifically will the intern be doing?
Intern Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, evidence-informed instruction in nutrition, early and school-age literacy, movement, taste testing, and garden-based lessons, creating meaningful learning experiences primarily in farmers market and classroom settings.
- Strengthen program operations by supporting meeting preparation managing calendars, organizing data, and coordinating event logistics.
- Contribute to evaluation activities by helping assess child outcomes and informing the next phase of the curriculum.
2. Describe the knowledge / skills you expect the intern to gain from this experience.
- Experience implementing developmentally appropriate educational lessons in nutrition, literacy, physical activity and garden-based learning.
- Competence in program coordination professional communication and collaborative project management across community partners.
- Foundational skills in data collection, interpretation , and the use of evaluation findings to guide program improvement.
3. How will the intern learn about the breadth of VCE and our various program areas?
- Participation in the orientation that introduces VCE's mission, structure, and major program areas.
- Structured shadowing and engagement with Extension professionals across Family & Consumer Sciences, 4-H, ANR and community initiatives.
- Involvement in cross-program meetings and multi-county activities that demonstrate VCE's integrated statewide approach to community education.
