Virginia Master Gardener Association Endowed Fund

Since the 1980s, the VCE Master Gardener Program (EMG) has connected communities across Virginia with unbiased, science-based information from our land-grant universities. The Virginia Master Gardener Association Endowed Fund ensures that the EMG program continues for generations to come by supporting the Virginia Master Gardener Coordinator's Office, which provides leadership and direction for volunteers statewide.

The Coordinator's office develops educational materials, supports local units as they train volunteers, and ensures that local programs meet the needs of their communities. This position gives EMGs a unified voice and the consistent guidance they need to thrive.

Your gift to the Virginia Master Gardener Association Endowed Fund directly supports this critical role by funding salary, benefits, travel, and program expenses for the State Coordinator. With your help, we can provide full-time leadership at the state level—forever.

By contributing, you are investing in:

  • Sustainable gardening education across Virginia
  • A stronger statewide volunteer network
  • Programs that address pressing environmental and horticultural issues
  • The future of the Extension Master Gardener program in perpetuity

Every gift makes a lasting difference.

Happy Hollow Urban Gardening Endowed Fund

The Happy Hollow Urban Gardening Endowed Fund provides vital support for urban gardening projects across Virginia, and funds a yearly urban gardening micro-grant. Urban gardening initiatives bring sustainable gardening practices, fresh food access, and educational opportunities directly to our communities.

By giving to this fund, you help advance outreach, volunteer training, and program development that fosters healthier, more resilient neighborhoods. Together, we can grow stronger communities and ensure that the benefits of gardening are accessible to all.

Extension Master Gardener Program Annual Fund

While donations to the Virginia Master Gardener Association Endowed Fund and the Happy Hollow urban Gardening Extension fund are invested in perpetuity by the Virginia Tech Foundation with annual income distributions used per those fund agreements, donations to the Virginia Extension Master Gardener Annual Fund are available for immediate use by the Virginia Extension Master Gardener state office to help administer the program.

Donations made to the EMG Annual Fund during Virginia Tech's annual Giving Day are designed for use in the programs Microgrant Program.
