State Skillathon Contest

The state skillathon contest is a comprehensive test of livestock knowledge including identification classes of meats, feeds, equipment and breeds; evaluation classes of meats, hay, sheep, meat goats, swine, and beef cattle; a knowledge-based quiz; and an applied team problem.
Contest Letter with Rules and Schedule
- This is the official State 4-H Skillathon, with the highest placing Senior 4-H Team moving on to the National 4-H Skillathon in Louisville, KY in mid-November. FFA Advisors, please by aware there is no State or National CDE for Livestock Skillathon.
- The second Highest placing 4-H Senior Team will represent Virginia at the National 4-H Quiz Bowl Contest in Louisville, KY.
- This is one contest – not separate 4-H and FFA contests. Dual entry is not allowed.
- There are two divisions – Juniors and Seniors – ALL CONTESTANTS will be sorted into divisions based on BIRTH DATE

Lunch is on your own for ALL contestants. Awards will not begin before 4:00 PM.

Virginia 4-H Livestock Programs Endowment
The Virginia 4-H Foundation is spearheading the advancement of the Virginia 4-H Youth Livestock Programs Endowment. 4-H livestock programming is funded through a combination of private gifts, endowment income, gifts in kind, and participant fees.
