Contest Information

The 2020 Meats Judging Contest contest will be held Saturday, March 7th 2020. This will be the Virginia state contest for 4-H and FFA members. The contest will be broken into separate 4-H and FFA divisions. 

Meats judging contests consist of retail meat identification and judging of retail meat cuts and carcasses. Retail meat identification consists of identifying the species, primal cut, retail cut and cookery method. Judging requires the participants to rank the meat in the classes, answer questions on chosen classes, and deliver sets of oral reasons from memory.

Contest Entry Form

  • Stockmen's, Livestock Judging, and Meats Contest Entry Form
  • Entry fees are $11 per person 
    • Lunch will be provided for all Meats Judging contestants 
  • All Entries must be postmarked by February 14
    • **NEW THIS YEAR** Please DO NOT send payment with entry forms-payments will be collected at check-in on contest day
