Contest Information

The 2019 Block and Bridle Meat Judging Contest contest will be held Saturday, March 16th. This will be the Virginia state contest for 4-H and FFA members. The contest will be broken into separate 4-H and FFA divisions. 

Meats judging contests consist of retail meat identification and judging of retail meat cuts and carcasses. Retail meat identification consists of identifying the species, primal cut, retail cut and cookery method. Judging requires the participants to rank the meat in the classes, answer questions on chosen classes, and deliver sets of oral reasons from memory.

  • Entry fees are $6 per person per contest 
  • Entries MUST be postmarked by March 1st !
    • Entries postmarked March 2-7 are $12 per contestant 
    • ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER MARCH 8TH!
